GeoLidar

Automated deformation monitoring

GeoLidar is an early-warning system for ground deformation and subsidence monitoring that is smart enough to filter out the noise.

When you are monitoring a high-traffic or weather-affected area, you need an automated deformation monitor that won’t set off a false alarm every time a car rolls by or a branch falls from the canopy. That’s why our state-of-the-art product uses lidar combined with artificial intelligence to detect ground movements with millimetre-scale precision, which can forecast a collapse or assess ground stability.

What sets GeoLidar apart from other monitoring systems is the ability to remove non-ground-movement changes from the scene, such as people, trees, vegetation, vehicles or machinery. This enables GeoLidar to monitor slopes, road surfaces, and rail corridors in real time even as traffic or construction work continues.

Subsidence and Deformation Software

GeoLidar software enables the visualisation of data into an intuitive 3D map of the area. An adjustable heatmap highlights changes in movement over time, making it easy to analyse land subsidence at a glance.

Geotechnical engineers can calculate average movement over time quickly, allowing for improved risk assessments.

Based in the cloud, Geobotica software can be accessed from any device at all time.

Rich Point Clouds
GeoPoint software visualises GeoLidar data as an intuitive 3D map of the area. Every scan automatically takes 1.5 million measurements of the scene and uploads this data to GeoPoint or you can export it to any point cloud software.

This background point cloud data is available in infra-red – known as intensity –  or as a full-colour point cloud which the system generates by merging real-time colour photos with the 3D point cloud.

Displacement Heat Map
An adjustable high-resolution heatmap highlights changes in movement over time, making it easy to analyse land subsidence at a glance.  ‘Hot’ areas of the map show large movements of subsidence, while ‘cold’ areas show heave and green areas show stability.

GeoLidar automatically generates this data on the device in the field while it scans. Each heat-map point is in a regular grid of 50cm x 50cm for flat surfaces, or 20cm x 20cm for slopes.

Point-and-click analysis
Geotechnical engineers can quickly and easily measure movement over time, allowing for improved decision making. Clicking any point in the heatmap reveals a plot showing displacement over time. Selecting multiple point allows you to compare or average measurements between points.

The rate of change in deformation reveals what is happening: a flat trend suggest stability, a slowing down of movement suggests the slope is stabilising, a steady rate of movement shows the slope is moving but not yet heading towards collapse, while an accelerating trend indicates a collapse is imminent.

Real-time data
GeoPoint software is flexible and easy to use. The software is automatically bundled with GeoLidar based on your commercial agreement. The software can be installed on PC for local-analysis, or can be run in the cloud, allowing you to view your data on a web browser, tablet or phone whenever you need it.

Layers
Analysing thousands of points is now simple using the Layer tool in GeoPoint. The tool allows you to group areas into a layer, then hide or display them. This makes for clean visualisation, allows you easily find interesting data again, and write your reports faster than ever.

timelapse photo record
Each time GeoLidar scans, it also captures an RGB photo as well as its rich point cloud. Each photo is uploaded to the cloud, meaning you can see conditions in real-time or review the photographs later. The photos are exportable as JPG and are automatically merged with the LiDAR data to give a rich 3D experience.

Lidar and AI combined for automatic ground monitoring

LIDAR MAPPING
GeoLidar uses high-speed lidar scanning to create a 3D map of the area. Subsidence is measured every 15 minutes but the timing can be adjusted as required.
SMART TRAFFIC REMOVAL
The AI algorithms screen out noise, including traffic and pedestrians, to provide a clear view of the ground surface.
Camera monitoring
SOFTWARE INSIGHTS
Analyse data easily using the intuitive software interface. Visualisations and heatmaps provide an accurate picture of the site, with areas of focus highlighted.
tough hardware
Made tough for 24/7 monitoring in all conditions. In-built heaters to allow use in sub-zero temperatures. Can withstand heat up to 45°C.
strong connectivity
In-build WiFi and 4G sends data instantly to the secure cloud.
